 
 アメリカの東部から中部に分布しています。池沼や湿地に生え、高さ
は３０〜５０センチになります。７月から８月ごろ、穂状花序をだして
芳香のある白い花を咲かせます。わが国に自生する「はんげしょう
（Saururus chinensis）」とは異なり、花序の下の葉が白く変化しません。
ドクダミ科ハンゲショウ属の多年草で、学名は Saururus cernuus。
英名は Swamp lily。
Swamp lily (Saururus cernuus) belongs to the Saururaceae (the Lizard's-tail
family). It is a perennial herb that is natove to eastern and central United
States. This herb grows in bogs or marshes, and can reach 30-50 cm in
height. The spikes are borne and tyhe fragrant white flowers bloom from
July to August. The leaf-blades near clusters don't turn to white in flower
season, differ from Japanese "Hangesho (Saururus chinensis)".
