ブラジル原産の大型のつる性植物です。温度があればよく成長し、春から秋まで開花します。３０センチにもなる大きな褐色の萼が、花びらのように見えます。ウマノスズクサ属の植物は日本にも自生していますが、アリストロキア酸という腎障害を引き起こす有毒物質が含まれます。 |

ウマノスズクサ科ウマノスズクサ属の小低木で、学名は Aristolochia gigantea。英名はありません。 |

Aristolochia gigantea belongs to the Aristolochiaceae (the Birthwort family). It is a deciduous shrub that is native to Brazil. This shrub is a vine and growing well if the temperature keeps comfortable. The flowers come from spring to fall. The large calyx up to 30 cm long looks like a petal. Aristolochia genus grows also naturally in Japan, and contains the toxic aristolochic acid, which harms the kidneys to humans. |
