ポルトガルが原産です。「すみれ（菫）」に似ていますが、イベリス属の近縁です。高さは１０センチほどの矮性で、カーペット状に広がります。１１月から４月ごろ、小さな薄紫色または白色の４弁花を咲かせます。花には芳香があります。 |

アブラナ科イオノプシディウム属の一年草で、学名は Ionopsidium acaule。英名は Violet cress、Diamond flower。 |

The Violet cress (Ionopsidium acaule) belongs to Brassicaceae (the Mustard family). It is an annual herb that is native to Portugal. It resembles the violet, but is a close relative of the genus Iberis. It is dwarf, about 10 cm tall, and spreads in a carpet-like. It produces small, light purple or white, four-petaled flowers from November to April. The flowers are aromatic. |
