ヨーロッパの地中海沿岸が原産です。「セージ」の名前がついていますが、「セージ」の仲間ではありません。高さは１〜１．５メートルになり、灰色がかった緑色の葉には白い縁取りがあります。花期は５月から９月ごろ。鮮やかな黄色い花を咲かせます。香りが良いので、ポプリやドライフラワーに使われます。

シソ科フロミス属の常緑多年草で、学名は Phlomis fruticosa。英名は Jerusalem sage。

The Jerusalem sage (Phlomis fruticosa) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to the Mediterranean coast of Europe. Although it bears the name "sage", it is not a member of the "salvia" genus. It grows 1 to 1.5 m tall and has grayish green leaves with white margins. Flowering season is from May to September. It produces bright yellow flowers. Because of its fragrance, it is used for potpourri and dried flowers.
