北アメリカのフロリダ半島から中央アメリカ、南アメリカの熱帯から亜熱帯地域に広く分布しています。岩上や他の樹木などに着生し、形態は多様で４００種以上があります。別名で、無数の蝶が舞い飛ぶような姿から「バタフライオーキッド」とも呼ばれます。園芸品種も数多く作出されています。 写真中４は、「シャリーベイビー（cv. Sharry Baby）」 そして中５は、「シャングリラ（cv. Shangrila）」 |

Butterfly orchids (Oncidium sp.) belong to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). They are evergreen perennial herbs that are distributed widely from the Florida Peninsula to Central America and South America. These herbs are epiphytes on other trees and rocks. There are many forms over 400 species. Many cultivars are breeded. |
