オーストラリアの東部、クイーンズランド州からニューサウスウェールズ州それにビクトリア州に分布しています。海岸近くの湿地帯に生え、高さは４〜２０メートルになります。倒披針形の葉は革質で表面は濃緑色、下面には白色の綿毛があります。秋から冬ごろ、円筒形の花序をだし、淡黄色の花を咲かせます。花後、花序は木化して松かさ状になり、種子が熟すと散布されます。

ヤマモガシ科バンクシア属の常緑小高木で、学名は Banksia integrifolia。英名は Coastal banksia、Coast banksia。

The Coastal banksia (Banksia integrifolia) belongs to the family Proteaceae. It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is native to eastern Australia, from Queens to New South Wales and Victoria. This tree grows in coastal wetlands and can reach 4-20 m in height. The leaves are oblanceolate, leathery and dark-green with white-tomentose on the lower surfaces. The pale yellow flowers come in the terminal cylindrical spikes from fall to winter. Following flowering, the inflorescence lignify and turn to pinecone-like, and scatter the seeds when mature.
