 
 アメリカのテキサス州に固有の種で、州花にもなっています。草地や
道ばたなどに生え、高さは２０〜４０センチになります。葉は掌状複葉
で、倒披針形の小葉が５個あります。もっともふつうのタイプは、真ん
中が白くて青い帽子（Blue bonnet）のような花を咲かせます。花期は３
月から５月ごろ。テキサス州には、「ブルーボネットトレイル
（Bluebonnet Trails）」と呼ばれるドライブコースがあるそうです。
マメ科ルピナス属の一年草で、学名は Lupinus texensis。
英名は Texas bluebonnet。
Texas bluebonnet (Lupinus texensis) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family).
It is an annual herb that is endemic to Texas and a state flower of Texas.
This herb grows in grasslands and roadsides, and can reach 20-40 cm in
height. The leaves are palmate compound with 5 oblanceolate leaflets. The
most typical flowers are blue with white centers, resemble to blue bonnets.
The flowers bloom from March to May.
