"Hama-sawa-hiyodori" (Eupatorium lindleyanum var. yasushii) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is native to southern Kanto district of Honshu and the Izu Islands. It is an oceanic variety of "Sawa-hiyodori". This herb grows on coastal rocky places and grasslands, and can reach 20-50 cmin height. The upper stems spread side-upward. The leaves are lanceolate, hairly and arranged in opposite. The corymbs are borne on the top of stems and the white to pale magenta flower-heads bloom from August to October. The flower-head consists of five tubular flowers. The fruits are achenes with white egrets.
