インドネシアのボルネオ島に分布しています。標高４００メートル以上の熱帯雨林に生える着生ランです。５０センチ以上にもなる葉は薄緑色で、５〜６個がつきます。長い花茎を下垂させ、黄白色の地に紫褐色の模様が入った花をいっぱい咲かせます。 |

ラン科ファレノプシス属の常緑多年草で、学名は Phalaenopsis gigantea。英名は Elephant ears orchid。 |

The elephant ears orchid (Phalaenopsis gigantea) belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is a perennial evergreen tree that is native to the Borneo in Indonesia. This orchid grows in tropical forests up to 400 m elevation, and are epiphytes. The leaves are 5-6, pale green, up to 50 cm long. The flowers are purple-brown mottled aganist a yellowish white background, and bloom descendin at the long terminal flowering stalks. |
