アメリカのテキサス州や東南部の各州に分布しています。高さは１５センチほどで、光沢のある線形の葉が対生または束生します。３月の終わりから４月にかけて、ピンク色や淡紅色、藤色やごくたまに白色の花を咲かせます。写真は、白花の園芸品種で「カムラ・ナナ（cv. Camla nana）」あるいは「スノードリフト（cv. Snowdrift）」と呼ばれるものかも知れません。

The Trailing phlox (Phlox nivalis) belongs to Polemoniaceae (the Phlox family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed throughout Texas and the Southeastern states of the United States. It is about 15 cm tall with glossy linear leaves that grow in pairs or bunches. The pink, pale red, mauve, and occasionally white flowers bloom from late March through April. The photo may be of a white-flowered cultivar called 'Camla nana' or 'Snowdrift'.
