ヨーロッパ南部から地中海沿岸が原産です。高さは40〜60センチほどで、葉にはつよいミントの香りがあります。葉や茎には毛があります。卵形の葉は対生し、先端が尖ります。下部の葉には鋸歯があります。7月から11月ごろ、白色や淡紫色の小さな花を咲かせます。 
シソ科カラミンタ属の多年草で、学名は Calamintha nepeta。英名は Lesser calamint。 
The Lesser calamint (Calamintha nepeta) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the southern Europe and the Mediterranean region. This herb can reach 40-60 cm in height. The leaves have strong mint-like aroma. The leaves and stems are covered with hairs. The leaves are ovate and arranged opposite with acute tips. The underneath leaves are serrate. The white or pale purple, small flowers bloom from July to November.
