中国の雲南・四川・湖北省からヒマラヤ、それに台湾と広く分布しています。蔓性で他の樹木などによじ登り、長さは５〜１０メートルになります。晩春から初夏にかけて、白い花を咲かせます。花色がピンク色のものは、「ルーベンス（Clematis montana var. rubens）」と呼ばれます。写真中４・中５は、園芸品種の「プリムローズスター（cv. Primrose Star）」。 |

キンポウゲ科センニンソウ属の落葉多年草で、学名は Clematis montana。英名は Anemone clematis、Indian's virgin's bower。 |

The Anemone clematis (Clematis montana) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a deciduous perenial herb that is native from Hubei to Sichuan, Yunnan in China to the Himalayas and Taiwan. This herb is a vine, climbs up adjacent trees, and can reach 5-10 m long. The white flowers bloom from late spring to early summer. The pink flower color variety is called "Rubens". |
