ゴルドニア・ラシアントゥス [Index] [Back] アメリカの東南部に分布しています。湿り気のある酸性土壌に生え、高さは２０メートル以上になります。葉は濃緑色の楕円形で、光沢があります。個々の葉のいくつかは、秋になると鮮やかな朱色に紅葉します。晩春から夏にかけて、白色のカップ形の５弁花を咲かせます。 ツバキ科タイワンツバキ属の常緑高木で、学名は Gordonia lasianthus。英名は Loblolly-bay。 Loblolly-bay (Gordonia lasianthus) belongs to the Theaceae (the Tea family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is native to south-eastern United States. This tree grows on acid, swampy soils, and can reach up to 20 m in height. The leaves are glossy and dark-green elliptic. The several individual leaves will turn a brilliant scarlet color in the fall.
