Mandevilla x amoena cv. Alice du Pont

Alice du Pont)」。
The Pink allamanda (Mandevilla x amoena) belongs Apocynaceae (the Dogbane family). It is an evergreen vine that is a garden variety created by interspecific hybridization between the Mandevilla splendens and the Mandevilla amabilis, which is native to southeastern Brazil. It is a vigorous vine that grows 5 to 6 m long with elliptic leaves that grow in pairs. The photo shows 'Alice du Pont' produced in Longwood Gardens in the eastern United States. As long as the temperature is right, the peduncle grows from the leaf axils and produces dark pink flowers all year round.
