モロッコのアトラス山脈が原産です。高さは15〜30センチほどになり、葉は幅広で青緑色です。雪の中でも花茎を伸ばし、2月終わりから3月の初めに、ピンク色がかった白い5弁花を咲かせます。 
キンポウゲ科キンポウゲ属の多年草で、学名は Ranunculus calandrinioides。英名は High alpine buttercup。 
The high alpine buttercup (Ranunculus calandrinioides) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The height is about 15 to 30 cm, and the leaves are wide and bluish green. The flower stalks grow even in the snow, and the pinkish white five-petaled flowers come in late February to early March.
