 地中海の東部沿岸から西アジアが原産の「シクラメン・ペルシクム」
から改良された園芸品種です。夏には落葉して休眠します。和名は、
花びらが反り返って咲くところから「かがりびばな（篝火花）」と呼ばれ
ます。また、この球根のかたちから、別名で「ぶたのまんじゅう（豚の
饅頭）」とも呼ばれます。
サクラソウ科シクラメン属の多年草で、学名は Cyclamen persicum
cv.。英名は Cyclamen、Florists' cyclamen。
Cyclamen belongs to the Primulaceae (the Primrose family). It is a
perennial herb that has been bred from Cyclamen percicum which is native
to the coastal area of Mediterranean Sea and West Asia. The terrestrial is
blighted and diapause in summer.
