南アメリカのペルーやエクアドルが原産です。以前は「ティンゴブルー」とか「ペルーブルー」という名前で知られていました。茎は不規則に広がり、そこから根を出します。高さは1.5メートル以上になります。葉は大きな心形です。秋に、長い総状花序をだし、鮮やかな青色の花を咲かせます。下唇には、2個の白い蜜標があります。
シソ科アキギリ属の多年草で、学名は Salvia macrophylla。英名はありません。
The Salvia macrophylla belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Peru and Ecuador. This was formerly known as "Tingo Blue" and "Peru Blue". This herb is sprawls and roots in easily, and can reach up to 1.5 m in height. The leaves are large heart-shaped. The long racemes are borne and bloom clear blue flowers in fall. They have two white nectar guides on the lower lips.
