わが国の北海道南部から本州、四国・九州に分布しています。日当たりの良い湿地に生え、高さは30〜50センチになります。葉は線状披針形から披針形で互生し、表面にしわがあります。8月から9月ごろ、枝先に直径2〜3センチの白色の頭花を咲かせます。
キク科シオン属の多年草で、学名は Aster rugulosus。英名はありません。
"Sawa-shiro-giku" (Aster rugulosus) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to southward from southern Hokkaido to Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. This herb grows in sunny marshes and can reach 30-50 cm in height. The leaves are linear lanceolate to lanceolate, alternate and having wrinkled surfaces. The white flower-heads 2-3 cm across bloom on the terminal branches from August to September.
