 
 アフリカ南部が原産です。常緑の小低木で、高さは３０〜１２０センチ
になります。葉には強い香りがあり、化粧品や食品用の香料として使
用されます。４月から１０月ごろ、淡いピンク色から紅色の花を咲か
せます。種類によってさまざまな香りがあり、園芸品種も多く作出され
ています。和名では「においてんじくあおい（匂い天竺葵）」と呼ばれま
す。
フウロソウ科テンジクアオイ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Pelargonium
sp. (属の総称)。英名は Scented geranium。
Scented geranium belongs to the Geraniaceae (the Geranium family). It is
an evergreen shrub that is native to southern Africa. This shrub can reach
30-120 cm in height. The leaves are strong scented and used as a purfume
for cosmetics or foods. The pale ping to dark rose pink flowers come from
April to October. There are various scented variery and many cultivars.
