メキシコの北東部が原産です。高さは１５〜３０センチほどになり、茎はよく分枝します。卵形の葉の先端は尖らず、わずかに毛が生え、短い葉柄があります。晩春から初秋にかけて、「きんぎょそう」に似たピンク色の花を咲かせます。高温や乾燥に優れた耐性があります。

シソ科タツナミソウ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Scutellaria suffrutescens。英名は Pink Texas skullcap、Texas rose。

The Pink Texas skullcap (Scutellaria suffrutescens) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to north-eastern Mexico. This tree can reach 15-30 cm in height, and much branched. The leaves are ovate with round tips, pubescent and short petiole. The snapdragon-like pink flowers come in late spring through early fall. This shrub has high heat and drought tolerance.
