"Japanease holly fern" (Cyrtomium laetevirens) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is native thoroughout Japan. This fern grows in forests and forest edges on lowlands and mountains, and can reach 50-100 cm in height. The leaves are unipennate, broad-lanceolate, somewhat glossy green and leathery. The pinnae are sickle-oblong, 10-20 pairs, thin fine serrated and hardly any eared at the base. The sori are round and scattered around the pinnae.
