中央アジアのパミール高原北端部、パミロ・アライ（Pamiro-Alay）山脈に分布しています。山麓から中腹の粘土質または岩礫地の斜面に生え、高さは１５〜３０センチになります。葉は灰緑色の狭線形で５〜８個が根生します。４月から６月ごろ、花茎の先に朱赤色の花を咲かせます。花冠はほとんど星形に平開し、真ん中には青黒色の斑があります。

ユリ科チューリップ属の多年草で、学名は Tulipa maximowiczii。英名はありません。

The Tulipa maximowiczii belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the Pamir-Alay Mountains at the northern end of the Pamir Plateau in Central Asia. It grows from the foot of the mountain to the slopes of clayey or rocky gravel on the hillside, and can reach 15 to 30 cm in height. The leaves are grayish green narrow linear and basal with 5 to 8 ones. From April to June, vermilion flowers come on the tips of the flower stalks. The corolla is almost star-shaped and has a bluish-black spot in the middle.
