南アフリカの北部、ムプマランガ州やリンポポ州、ハウテン州が原産です。基部で分枝して、高さは3メートルほどになります。茎は長さ10〜15センチの茎節に分かれ、淡緑色の縞が入ります。棘は1対ずつつきます。夏に小さな黄色の花を咲かせます。
トウダイグサ科トウダイグサ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Euphorbia grandialata。英名はありません。
The Euphorbia grandialata belongs to Euphorbiaceae (the Spurge family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to northern South Africa, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Gauteng Province. This herb is branched at the base and can reach about 3 m in height. The stems are divided into segments 10-15 cm long and banded with pale green. The spines are in pairs. The small yellow flowers come in summer.
