南アフリカの北部、トランスバール地方からジンバブエに分布しています。高さは６〜１０メートルになり、森を形成することもあります。中心にある幹は木質で、シカの角のように分枝した茎が生えています。園芸上は「だいしきりん（大歯麒麟）」と呼ばれます。

トウダイグサ科トウダイグサ属の常緑高木で、学名は Euphorbia grandidens。英名は Big toothed euphorbia、Large toothed euphorbia。

The Big toothed euphorbia (Euphorbia grandidens) belongs to Euphorbiaceae (the Spurge family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Transvaal Province in northern South Africa and Zimbabwe. It can reach 6-10 m in height and occasionaly forms into forests. The central stem is woody and branches deer horn-like branchlets.
