 アメリカの東部から中南部に分布しています。湿った林内や河岸に
生え、高さは３０〜９０センチになります。葉は披針形から楕円形で
短い柄があり、互生します。４月から７月ごろ、茎の先に集散状の花
序をだし、淡青紫色の筒状花を咲かせます。花冠の先は５裂しま
す。全草にアルカロイドが含まれていて有毒です。
キョウチクトウ科チョウジソウ属の多年草で、学名は Amsonia
tabernaemontana。英名は Blue dogbane, Eastern bluestar, Texas
bluestar。
Blue dogbane belongs to Apocynaceae (Dogbane family). It is a perennial
herb that is native to eastern and central-southern USA. This herb occurs in
moist or wet woods, streambanks and can reach 30-90 cm in height. The
leaves are lanceolate to elliptic, short-stalked and alternate. The pale sky
blue tubular flowers come in the cymose clusters from April to July. The
corolla is divided into star-shaped. The herb contains alkaloids, therefore it
is toxic.
