アメリカのテキサス州南部からメキシコ東部のタマウリパス州に分布しています。葉は多肉質でロゼットを形成し、高さは６０センチ、直径１．２メートルほどになります。３０センチほどの花序をだし、黄緑色の花を咲かせます。

リュウゼツラン科リュウゼツラン属の多年草で、学名は Agave lophantha。英名は Thorncrest century plant、Hardy century plant。

The Thorncrest century plant (Agave lophantha) belongs to Agavaceae (the Agave family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed from southern Texas in the United States to Tamaulipas in eastern Mexico. The leaves are fleshy and form rosettes, 60 cm high and 1.2 m in diameter. The inflorescences are about 30 cm long and the yellow-green flowers come in bloom.
