ヨーロッパ南部の地中海沿岸が原産です。高さは１５〜３０センチになり、葉は線形です。８月から１０月ごろ、細い花茎を伸ばして、小さな白色から淡いピンク色の花を下向きに咲かせます。夏には地上部は枯死して休眠します。本種は以前、レウコユム属に分類されていました。

ユリ科アキス属の多年草で、学名は Acis autumnalis (syn. Leucojum autumnale)。英名は Autumn snowflake。

The Autumn snowflake (Acis autumnalis) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native of the Mediterranean coast of southern Europe. This herb grows up to 15-30 cm in height, and the leaves are linear. It stretches a thin stem and blooms a small white to pale pink flower downwards from August to October. The terrestrials are blighted and diapause during the summer. This species was previously classified in the genus Leucojum.
