地中海沿岸の南ヨーロッパや北アフリカが原産です。乾燥した草原などに生え、高さは30〜60センチになります。葉は線形で長く、浅い竜骨があります。晩春に、花茎を伸ばして散形花序をつけ、星形の白い花を咲かせます。花には芳香があります。
ユリ科ネギ属の多年草で、学名は Allium neapolitanum (syn. Allium cowanii)。英名は Daffodil garlic、White garlic。
The Daffodil garlic (Allium neapolitanum) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Mediterranean region, South Europe and North Africa. This herb grows in arid grasslands and can reach about 30-60 cm in height. The leaves are long linear with low keels. The umbels are borne on the flowering stalks, and produce stary white flowers. The flowers are aromatic.
