アメリカの南西部に分布しています。石膏を含む砂礫地に生え、高さは１．２メートルほどになります。不格好なひょろ長い植物で、ほとんど円形の葉は基部に対生します。６月から１１月ごろ、枝先の花序にピンク色から白色のトランペット形の花を咲かせます。英名は、茎を取り巻くように粘液腺の輪があることによります。

オシロイバナ科アヌロカウリス属の多年草で、学名は Anulacaulis leiosolenus。英名は Southwestern ringstem。

The Southwestern ringstem (Anulacaulis leiosolenus) belongs to Nyctaginaceae (the Four o'clock family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed in the southwestern part of the United States. It grows in sandy gravel with gypsum and grows up to 1.2 m tall. It is an awkward, spindly plant with almost circular leaves that grow in pairs at the base. It produces pink to white trumpet-shaped flowers in inflorescences at the ends of its branches from June to November. The English name is derived from the ring of mucous glands that surrounds the stem.
