オーストラリアの西部に分布しています。高さは2〜2.5メートルほどになり、細い横枝が放射状につきます。樹皮は赤褐色をしています。葉は線形で、長さが1センチほどあり、つぶすとスパイシーな香りがあります。真夏と真冬をのぞいて一年中、小さな白色または淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。 
フトモモ科アスタルテア属の常緑低木で、学名は Astartea fascicularis。英名は False baeckea。 
The False baeckea (Astartea fascicularis) belongs to Myrtaceae (the Myrtle family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed in the western part of Australia. It grows 2 to 2.5 m tall with thin lateral branches that radiate out. The bark is reddish brown. The leaves are linear, about 1 cm long, and have a spicy aroma when crushed. It produces small white or pale pink flowers all year round except midsummer and midwinter.
