アメリカのテキサス州南部からメキシコ北東部に分布しています。乾燥した地域に生え、潅木状になります。茎は濃緑色の細い柱状で直立して、長さ１．２メートル以上、直径２センチほどになり、８〜１０稜があります。中棘は灰白色で１個、縁棘は９〜１２個がつきます。初夏に、直径６センチほどの淡い赤紫色の花を咲かせます。咽部は赤みを帯びます。 |

Dahlia cactus (Echinocereus poselgeri) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is an evergreen perennial herbacious plant that is distributed south Texas and northeast Mexico. This cactus grows in arid areas and grows shrubby. Stems are thin columnar, dark green, erect up to 1.2 m long, about 2 cm in diameter and have 8-10 ribs. Central spine is one, grayish white and radial spines are 9-12. Flowers are pale magenta, about 6 cm in daimeter with reddish throat in early summer. |
