わが国の固有種で、四国の愛媛県北部、高縄半島付近にだけ分布しています。「しまかんぎく（島寒菊）」の変種で、山地の日当たりのよいところに生えます。葉は小さくて深裂し、裏面は伏毛が密生します。また茎の上部にも軟毛が生えています。１０月から１２月ごろ、黄色い頭花を咲かせます。

キク科キク属の多年草で、学名は Chrysanthemum indicum var. iyoense。英名はありません。

"Iyo-abura-giku" (Chrysanthemum indicum var. iyoense) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan and is found only in the northern part of Ehime Prefecture in Shikoku, near the Takanawa Peninsula. It is a variety of the "Shima-kan-giku" and grows in sunny mountainous areas. The leaves are small and deeply lobed, and the underside is densely covered with pubescent hairs. Yellow flower heads bloom from October to December.
