イギリスのサクラ研究家コリングウッド・イングラム（Collingwood Ingram）によって、「ひかんざくら（Prunus cerasoides var. campanulata）」と「まめざくら（Prunus incisa）」を交配して作出され、１９４７年に発表されました。花は淡い紅紫色で、２月下旬から３月上旬に咲きます。

バラ科サクラ属の落葉小高木で、学名は Prunus incamp cv. Okame。英名は Okame cherry。

The Okame cherry (Prunus incamp cv. Okame) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a semi-tall deciduous tree that is a interspecies hybrid between Taiwan cherry (Prunus cerasoides var. campanulata) and ）Fuji cherry (Prunus incisa). This cherry was raised by British student of cherry Collingwood Ingram (1880-1981) in 1947. The flowers are pale magenta and bloom from late of February to early of March.
