わが国の各地をはじめ、朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。山地や林縁に生え、高さは５０〜８０センチになります。葉は１回羽状複葉で叢生します。葉身は長楕円形から長楕円状披針形で、下部の羽片は短くなりません。葉柄基部の鱗片は密につき、黒褐色から黄褐色です。胞子嚢群（ソーラス）は葉身の中部から上部について、裂片中脈の両側に並び、支脈上に１個ずつつきます。苞膜は腎円形です。中国語では「同形鱗毛蕨（tong xing lin mao jue）」と呼ばれます。

The Uniform wood fern (Dryopteris uniformis) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed not only in various parts of Japan, but also in the Korean Peninsula and China. This fern grows in mountains and forest edges and can reach 50-80 cm in height. The leaves are crowded and once pinnatly compound. The leaf blades are oblong to oblong-lanceolate, and the pinnae do not shorten. The scales at the base of the petiole are dense and dark brown to tan. The sporangia (solus) are arranged from the middle to the upper part of the leaf blade on both sides of the splinter middle vein, and one on each branched vein. The indusium is round-kidney shaped. In Chinese, it is called "同形鱗毛蕨" (tong xing lin mao jue).
