おおばかんあおい (大葉寒葵) [Index] [Back] わが国の奄美大島と徳之島の固有種です。常緑樹の林内に生え、高さは１０〜２０センチになります。葉は卵状心形で厚く、表面には雲紋がありません。１２月から５月ごろ、根元に緑紫色から暗紫褐色の花を咲かせます。萼裂片は、縁が外に反り返ります。 ウマノスズクサ科カンアオイ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Heterotropa lutchuensis (syn. Asarum lutchuense)。英名はありません。 "Ooba-kan-aoi" (Heterotropa lutchuensis) belongs to Aristolochiaceae (the Birthwort family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is endemic to Amami Island and Tokunoshima. This herb grows in evergreen forests, and it can reach 10-20 cm in height. The leaves are ovate-cordate, thick and having not cloudlike mottles on the surface. The greenish perple to dull purplish brown flowers bloom on the bases from December to May.
