The Big chickweed (Cerastium holosteoides var. holosteoides) belongs to Caryophyllaceae (the Carnation family). It is a biennial herb that is distributed in northern Honshu and Hokkaido in Japan, as well as widely across Asia and Europe. Taxonomically, it is classified as the standard variety of "Mimina-gusa". It grows in sunny coastal areas and grasslands, reaching a height of 15-30 cm. The stems do not stand upright and often have a reddish-brown color. The plant is covered with many spreading hairs, but it does not have glandular hairs. The leaves are oblong to triangular ovate, and about 3 cm long at the base. From June to July, it blooms with slightly large white flowers. The petals are larger than the calyx, and the tips are split into two, forming a long, narrow heart shape. It is called "簇生泉卷耳" (cu sheng quan juan er) in Chinese.
