わが国の各地をはじめ、世界の温帯地域から寒帯地域に広く分布しています。低地から山地の水辺や湿原の周辺に生えます。湿潤な環境を好みますが、水没することを避けて群落を形成します。ミズゴケの仲間ではもっともふつうの種です。園芸用の培養土として用いられるため、乱獲による減少が危惧されています。 |

ミズゴケ科ミズゴケ属の蘚類で、学名は Sphagnum palustre。英名は Bog moss。 |

The Bog moss (Sphagnum palustre) belongs to Sphagnaceae (the Bog moss family). It is a bryopsida (moss) that is distributed throughout Japan, as well as widely in the temperature region and the frozen latitudes of the world. This moss grows in lowland to mountane watersides and bogs. It prefers a humid environment, but avoid formation of submergence and form a community. It is the most common species in a group of Sphagnum. Because it is used as a cultivating soil for gardening, it is concerned about reduction due to overexploitation. |
