おもにアメリカの東部および南部の乾燥した森や草原地帯に生える「むらさきせんだいはぎ」の交配種です。ふつう高さおよび広がる幅は９０センチまでになります。葉はクローバーに似た３出複葉で、青みがかった緑色、マウンドを形成します。花はルピナスに似て、晩春に真っ直ぐな総状花序に咲きます。花はハチや他の昆虫の授粉者を惹きつけます。

マメ科ムラサキセンダイハギ属の多年草で、学名は Baptisia cv. Lemon Meringue。英名は False indigo 'Lemon Meringue'。

The false indigo 'Lemon Meringue' (Baptisia cv. Lemon Meringue) belongs to Fabaceae (the Pea family). It is a hybrid of "false indigo", growing mainly in dry woodland and grassland areas of eastern and southern United States. This herb typically grows to 90 cm in height with an equal spread. The leaves are clover-like, trifoliate, bluish-green and form a mound. The flowers are upine-like and appear in late spring in erect racemes. They are attractive to bees and other insect pollinators.
