南アメリカ北部のボリビアが原産です。茎が長く伸びて下垂性があります。葉は左右非対象の心形で、表面は濃緑色、淡緑色の葉脈が目立ちます。裏面は光沢のない赤褐色です。６月から９月ごろ、長い花梗を伸ばして集散花序をつけ、黄色い花を咲かせます。数多くの園芸品種が作出されている球根ベゴニアの黄色系母種となっています。 |

The Begonia pearcei belongs to Begoniaceae (the Begonia family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Bolivia in northern South America. The stems are long and drooping. The leaves are heart-shaped, unopposed, dark green on the surface with conspicuous light green veins, and the underside is a dull reddish brown. From June to September, it produces yellow flowers in cymes with long flower stalks. It is the yellow mother of bulbous begonias, of which many garden varieties have been produced. |
