「フクシア」は１８世紀のはじめ、西インド諸島のドミニカで最初に発見されました。本種はそのときの原種、トリフィラ種（Fuchsia triphylla）を改良した園芸品種群です。高さは６０〜９０センチほどになり、葉はブロンズがかった緑色で、ビロードのような質感があります。赤橙色をした筒状花が、春から秋まで咲き続けます。写真上・中の品種は「コラーレ（cv. Koralle）」、下は「ガルテンマイステル・ボーンシュテット（cv. Gartenmeister Bohnstedt）」。

アカバナ科フクシア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Fuchsia triphylla cv.（品種群の総称）。英名は Honeysuckle fuchsia。

The Honeysuckle fuchsia (Fuchsia triphylla cv.) belongs to Onagraceae (the Evening primrose family). It is an evergreen shrub. Fuchsia was first discovered in Dominica in the West Indies in the early 18th century. This species is a group of cultivars improved from the original species, Fuchsia triphylla, at that time. It grows to a height of 60 to 90 cm, and its leaves are a bronzed green color with a velvety texture. The reddish-orange tubular flowers bloom from spring to fall. The variety in the upper and middle photos is 'Koralle', and the one below is 'Gartenmeister Bohnstedt'.
