The Yellow rocket (Barbarea vulgaris) belongs to Brassicaceae (the Mustard family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Europe. It is also distributed to the region there center on the cool temperate area of the Northern Hemisphere. It was naturalized in Japan on the late date of Meiji Era (1868-1912). This herb can be found easily in central and northern Honshu. It can reach 30-70 cm in height. The basal and underneath leaves are pinnatifid, and the upper leaves are thick and glossy with wavy toothed edges. The bright yellow, four-petaled flowers bloom from April to June.
