ボリビアおよびペルーが原産です。湿潤な森林に生え、高さは１．５〜５メートルになります。葉は長楕円形で頂部は尖り、長い葉柄があります。花序は直立して、黄色から黄緑色の花苞をつけます。果実は球形の核果で、熟すと青色になります。

バショウ科ヘリコニア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Heliconia lingulata。英名はありません。

The Heliconia lingulata belongs to Musaceae (the Banana family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to Bolivia and Peru. It grows in moist forests and is 1.5 to 5 m tall. The leaves are oblong with a pointed apex and long petioles. The inflorescence is erect and bears yellow to yellow-green flower bracts. The fruit is a spherical kernel that turns blue when ripe.
