The Paphiopedilum victoria-regina belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is found on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It grows in hollows in limestone rock walls that tower over riverbanks and leach water. The leaves are linear-tongued with indistinct gray-green blotches. Long flower stalks grow throughout the year, producing a succession of flowers. The upper sepal is rounded, and the petals are thin and twisted and hang horizontally. The labellum is reddish purple with fine blotches.
