南アメリカが原産です。耐寒性があり、わが国でも道端などに帰化しています。高さは１メートルくらいになり、茎は広がります。葉は鏃形で、和名の「やのねぼんてんか（矢の根梵天花）」はこのかたちに由来します。春から秋にかけて、淡いピンク色に中心部が赤褐色の花を咲かせます。

アオイ科パボニア属の常緑小低木で、学名は Pavonia hastata。英名は Pink pavonia。

The Pink pavonia (Pavonia hastata) belongs to Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is an evergreen shrub that is native to South America. It is cold tolerant and naturalized into Japan on the roadsides. This shrub can reach about 1 m in height and the stems are sprawling. The leaves are arrow-shaped. The pale pink with reddish brown center flowers bloom from spring to fall.
