The Lacy phacelia (Phacelia tanacetifolia) belongs to Hydrophyllaceae (the Waterleaf family). It is an annual herb that is distributed in the Mojave Desert on California State. This herb grows in dry oak or conifer forests, rocky slopes or plains, and can reach 60-90 cm in height. The stem is erect and the whole plant is covered with short hairs. The leaves are divided into regular, deep fronds pinnately. The scorpoid cyme is borne at the top of stem, the pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers bloom from March to May. In Japanese, it is known as "Hazeri-so" (leaf parsley) or alternatively as "Anjeria", and is widely used in horticulture for green manure and ornamental purposes. Note that "Anjeria" is a registered variety name of Snow Brand Seed.
