ブラジルが原産です。大型の地生種で、ブロメリア亜科に属します。高さは８０センチほどになります。葉は細長く、ワインレッドの斑が入ります。成長すると赤褐色の花茎を伸ばして大きな総状花序をつけ、黄色い花を咲かせます。

パイナップル科ポルテア属の常緑多年草で、学名は Portea leptantha。英名はありません。

The Portea leptantha belongs to Bromeliaceae (the Pineapple family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Brazil. A large terrestrial species, belonging to the subfamily Bromelioceae. It can reach a height of up to 80 cm. The leaves are long and narrow with burgundy blotches. As it grows, the reddish-brown scape grows into a large raceme with yellow flowers.
