プルヌス・イリキフォリア [Index] [Back] 北アメリカのカリフォルニア州やバハカリフォルニアに分布しています。シャパラル地域に生え、高さは２〜９メートルになります。葉は厚く棘状の鋸歯があり、「ひいらぎ」に似たかたちです。花は小さく白色で、春に総状花序につきます。果実は、直径１２〜２５ミリの液果で、甘くて食べることができます。 バラ科サクラ属の常緑小高木で、学名は Prunus ilicifolia (syn. Prunus ilicifolia var. ilicifolia)。英名は Hollyleaf cherry。 The Hollyleaf cherry (Prunus ilicifolia) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a semi-tall evergreen tree that is native to California and Baja California. This tree grows in the chaparral areas and can reach 2-9 m in height. The leaves are thick, spiny toothed, similar in appearance of the holly. The flowers are small, white, produced on racemes in the spring.
