アメリカの西海岸に分布しています。低地の林に生え、巻きついて高さは1〜6メートルになります。葉は倒卵形または卵形で、茎に対生してつき、一番上の対は基部で融合して、茎を囲みます。春から夏にかけて、ピンク色やバラ色または紫色の花を咲かせます。果実は球形の液果で秋に赤く熟します。果実は食べることができますが、苦いものです。 
スイカズラ科スイカズラ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Lonicera hispidula。英名は California honeysuckle、Pink honeysuckle。 
The California honeysuckle (Lonicera hispidula) belongs to Caprifoliaceae (the Honeysuckle family). It is a deciduous shrub that is native to the West Coast of the United States. This shrub grows in low-elevation woodlands and reaches 1-6 m high by twining. The leaves are obovate or ovate, opposite on the stems, the uppermost pairs fused at the bases to surround the stem. The pink, rose, or purple flowers appear in spring and summer. The fruits are spherical berries and ripen red in fall. They are edible but bitter.
