カナリーやし (カナリー椰子)

北アフリカ西岸にあるカナリア諸島の原産です。一般に「フェニックス」とも呼ばれ、耐寒性が比較的強いために、世界中の暖帯地方に植栽されています。ナツメヤシ属のなかでも、最も幹が太くなり、高さも２０〜３０メートルになります。羽状複葉は３メートル以上にもなり、葉柄の付け根にある小葉は針状です。春に白い花を咲かせ、秋には果実がオレンジ色に熟します。 |

ヤシ科ナツメヤシ属の常緑高木で、学名は Phoenix canariensis。英名は Canary Island date palm。 |

The Canary Island date palm (Phoenix canariensis) belongs to Arecaceae (the Palm family). It is a tall evergreen tree that is native to the Canary Islands of western North Africa. This tree has cold resistance relatively, planted widely in temperate areas. The trunk is thickest in the Phoenix genus and can reach 20-30 m in height. The leaves are up to 3 m long and pinnately compound. The leaflets on rachis base are acerate. White flowers come in spring and the fruits ripen orange in fall. |
