Cheiridopsis purpurea belongs to the Aizoaceae (the Ice plant family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to Northern Cape province of South Africa. This herb grows on granite, quartz rocks and screes, and can reach 5-10 cm in height. The leaves are thick, fleshy, silvery green and arranged in opposite. They are three-angled with conspicuous transparent dots. The bright magenta pink, daisy-like flower blooms from winter to early spring.
